Predictive Overview for Private Jets in 2025

Luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report shared insights from a significant annual private jet industry conference, the Corporate Jet Investor (CJI) conference, held in Miami in November 2024.

Noting that the industry overall — including private jet charters, jet sales, jet card membership programs, and more — tends to experience up-and-down cycles, it appears that many of those segments are on an upswing. Leaders from several businesses in the industry expressed positive sentiments about the private jet travel market in 2025.

Fractional jet ownership used private jet sales, and new aircraft sales are experiencing some of the most muscular stability and growth. However, the industry as a whole is performing well.

Drop-offs in demand in specific market segments from the peak of COVID-related travel restrictions were noted, but performance is still strong from a long-term perspective.

Honeywell released its annual business aviation outlook in October 2024, revealing findings broadly in line with the CJI conference. The outlook predicts roughly 8,500 new business jet deliveries for the 10 years starting in 2025, with a total value of $280 billion.

The market for new jets appears to be declining from a recent high, influenced by COVID-related travel restrictions. However, the jet business market is above its pre-pandemic peak, seems stable, and is slowly growing.

Straits Research predicts that the private jet market will rise from a total value of $17.01 billion in 2024 to $21.25 billion in 2033. That represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.5% across the multiyear period.

The Price of Private Jets in 2025

Private jet pricing in terms of purchasing, whether new or used aircraft, is complex to boil down to a single figure. Even leaving out operating costs, such as landing fees, fuel prices, maintenance, and more, the cost of ownership for flying privately depends on several factors. These include:

  • The type of jet. For example, a light or turboprop plane will be substantially less expensive than an ultra-long-range heavy jet.

  • New vs. used. Brand-new private jet prices will be higher than those of used jets, especially jets that have been flown for many years.

  • Type of purchase. Buying a jet outright for exclusive use means bearing the entire cost of the aircraft, while shared or fractional ownership will decrease those costs.

While determining an exact average for future prices is impossible without in-depth algorithms and access to diverse data sets, we can quickly review the range of prices for private aircraft in 2024 and consider how it will apply to 2025.

Private jet marketplace AVBuyer explains that the overall price range is roughly $5-$30 million, with some exceptions.

The most expensive heavy jets, like the Gulfstream G700, can cost as much as $80 million. On the other hand, used private jets can cost as little as $1-$2 million, depending on their history of use and time in service.

Private Jet Charter Prices

Full ownership of a private jet represents a considerable investment at purchase and significant ongoing costs (maintenance, fuel, crew, hangar fees, and more) as time passes.

Travelers who want private jets' safety, convenience, and comfort without the full ownership costs often turn to private jet charters as an alternative. Private jet rental prices are much smaller in scale and involve no ongoing commitment, as is needed with jet ownership.
